Both companies will be able to increase production of sustainable manufacturing innovations with Government of Canada support.

On August 13, Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, announced funding for Next Hydrogen Corporation, a Mississauga-based clean tech company that supports sustainable practices by manufacturing innovative electrolyzers that use water and electricity to produce clean hydrogen for use as a renewable energy source.

Next Hydrogen Corporation is taking on new manufacturing processes to increase production of its innovative, next-generation, cost-effective electrolyzer modules for large-scale, green hydrogen producers.

With a $2-million repayable investment, the company will be able to strengthen its clean energy production, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address increased demand from clients, including those in the transportation and industrial sectors.

In addition, Pulp Moulded Products Inc., a Newmarket-based clean tech manufacturer specializing in recyclable and compostable molded fibre packaging for the food and beverage, automotive and electronics markets, will scale its operations through the addition of new pressing and manufacturing lines.

Through a $1.3-million repayable investment, the company will be able to support the increased demand from clients looking to reduce single-use plastic packaging in favour of more sustainable, eco-friendly alternatives.

“Clean technology companies, like Next Hydrogen and Pulp Moulded Products, are crucial in enabling Canada to meet its carbon reduction objectives,” said Tassi. “Investments in clean technology bolster Canada’s position as a global leader in green manufacturing and support a cleaner future for all while creating sustainable jobs.”

The Government of Canada says it is investing in small businesses and organizations that are creating sustainable jobs and clean economic growth in southern Ontario.
