TORONTO — Norbord Inc. says it is reducing production at an oriented strand board mill in Cordele, Ga., due to poor market conditions.
One line at the two-line mill will operate on a reduced schedule starting on Sept. 5.
The Toronto-based company says US homebuilding has been pulling back since the fall of last year and that has meant lower-than-anticipated OSB demand.
The Cordele mill has total stated annual production capacity of 1,040 million square feet.
The reduced production schedule will affect approximately 12% of the mill’s available capacity.
Norbord has 17 plant locations in the US, Canada and Europe.
